About the Book

He lives by the sword, until a Christmas wish changes everything.

Laird Neilan Ruthven will do whatever it takes to reclaim his family’s ancestral castle from the clutches of an English garrison. But when a wee woman with sunshine hair thwarts his plan and puts herself in danger, he not only whisks her to safety but discovers there’s more to the daughter of his most hated enemy than all his misconceptions of her.

Lady Rosemond never expects to be tricked by a wily highlander. But this ruthless, battle-scarred laird with the beautiful hazel gaze is far different than she first imagined. He’s generous. Loyal. Far gentler than she first imagined. And as she discovers the true state of Scotland, ravaged by war, her privileged misconceptions crack and topple as her own loyalties are put to the test.

Her affection for Neilan is deepening, as is the danger within which they find themselves. Can they claim an impossible future together? Will a yuletide wish be enough to give her what she so desperately wants? Neilan will do anything to protect her, perhaps even the unthinkable: laying down the sword he lives by in the name of peace.

About the Author
E. Elizabeth Watson

Elizabeth is convinced life is better with good coffee, chocolate, and a pair of hiking boots. Ever since her elementary school librarian “published” her epic childhood tales–complete with laminated handmade covers–she’s enjoyed exploring the world through literature. While studying prehistoric Britain at Newcastle University, Elizabeth found story inspiration for rugged warriors in kilts and armor in the tumultuous history of the British Isles and the folklore of Scotland. As an undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin, her prehistoric rock art research drew her to the harsh Texas desert where she imagined charismatic cowboys and the stubborn women who tame them.

A recovering archaeologist and biomed research coordinator, Elizabeth spends her days penning heroes ranging from Scottish and Medieval heroes strapped in swords to Texas cowboys crowned with Stetsons. Whether in kilts or pearl-snaps, her heroes wear plaid! Known for her Ladies of Scotland series written for Entangled Publishing, as well as her HEA at USA TODAY recommended Christmas Wore Plaid, she’s excited to join Dragonblade Publishing to pursue her first Regency series, as well as Tule Publishing to introduce her debut contemporary cowboy romance. She currently lives on a mountainside in West Virginia with her husband, sons, and various pets, and is always honored to hear from readers.
